Time-Sensitive Workshop for Ministers of Holy Communion
Who is this for:
Those who minister as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at OLV weekend and/or Daily Masses
Those who bring Communion to nursing homes, rehab centers, private homes, and/or hospitals
Deadline to complete this: Thursday, 5 October 2026 @ Noon.
The Diocesan Office for Liturgy has informed all parishes that ministry volunteers who serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion must complete the Diocesan tutorial/certification and receive a mandate from the Bishop to serve in the capacity of assisting with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass and/or to those who cannot come to Mass.
To accomplish this:
Current or new volunteers seeking to serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are to go online and complete the certification program individually. Once completed, the volunteer would submit a copy of their certificate to the Pastor, who will petition for a mandate for the volunteer. You will be watching several video tutorials and respond to a multiple choice quiz.
Once you've completed your program, print a copy of your certificate or send it as a PDF to Father Roy at [email protected].
*Effective 1st Sunday of Advent, 28-29 November, 2026, as per the instruction of the Diocesan Liturgist, only those certified and mandated volunteers will be retained for scheduling to serve at Our Lady of Victory Masses and/or serving the shut-in. After 29 November, once a volunteer has completed the online certification course and submits a copy to the pastor, the EMHC volunteer will be added (or reinstated) to OLV's ministry schedule after receiving the mandate from the Bishop.
